RFC 2119 Keywords

Every PSD MUST declare its use of RFC 2119 normative keywords in the conventions section of its introduction chapter (§1.3).

The following keywords MUST be interpreted as described in RFC 2119 when they appear in uppercase:

  • MUST, MUST NOT
  • SHALL, SHALL NOT
  • SHOULD, SHOULD NOT
  • MAY
  • REQUIRED, OPTIONAL

A PSD MAY use a subset of these keywords. The conventions section MUST list which keywords the specification uses.

"The key words MUST, MUST NOT, SHOULD, SHOULD NOT, and MAY in this specification are to be interpreted as described in RFC 2119."
